Overview:  Its name comes from the word "sphen" meaning "wedge shaped", as it normally occurs in wedge shaped crystals. Sphene is also alternatively called Titanite due to its titanium content. Sphene is predominantly green or yellowish-green, though occasionally it is found in pink, black or brown and every color of the rainbow mixed.

Healing Power:  It has a strong vibration within the third eye chakra, and will aid mental activity, and help you to absorb new information. It is a stone that promotes enlightenment. It is used during meditation and rituals. It works to improve the mind and the processing of information. It brings gentleness to those who use it. It can also help us to reflect who we truly are and allows this light to shine brightly on everyone with whom you come into contact.
It assists your clairvoyant abilities and your intuition and is very helpful to aid you to be more organized. It has a good healing action, and like most yellow-green stones it stimulates the solar plexus and aids manifestation.

Legend:  Sphene is a fairly unusual gemstone that until a very few years ago was virtually unknown to most jewelry consumers. However, recent finds in Brazil and the Far East have brought more and more of the material to the market which has resulted in an increased awareness of this gemstone.

Occurence:  Mexico, Brazil, Canada, USA, Sri Lanka, Madagascar, Switzerland, Italy, Pakistan and Russia.

Color:  Sphene is a brilliant transparent gemstone, exhibiting a range of colors from yellow to brown to green and even reddish.

Care:  Require no special care, but is best suited for earrings and pendants due to its moderate softness.
